Safe Environment

All volunteers, in diocesan organizations who work with children and vulnerable adults must follow these same guidelines. This would include ALL of our parent volunteers.

ALL SAFE ENVIRONMENT requirements MUST be completed prior to volunteering in the school.
Please complete the following

1. Complete one-hour online training
2. Print the Completion Certificate 
3. Print and sign the Volunteer Code of Conduct 
4. Print out and complete the Background Check Paperwork 
5. Submit a copy of your Driver's License
6. Return ALL paperwork to the Faith Formation Office, or to the school Main Office.

Volunteers completing Initial Training or Re-Training use the same login information.

To access SAFE ENVIRONMENT Online, follow these steps:

1. Open web browser and enter dor.safeenvironment.org
2. Click on "Creating A Safe Environment" in the blue bar.
3. Scroll down to select the English or Spanish version, and click on "Register Now".
4. Click "Add to Cart", then "Check Out"
5. Enter your email address and click "Save"
6. Enter a password and click "Create an Account" if this is your first time.  Passwords must be
    between 8-20 characters, and must include at least 1 upper case letter, 1 lower case, 1       
    number, and 1 special symbol.
8. Click on "Add New Address"
9. Enter your name and the address of your school.  Remember there is no cost for this training.
10. Click on "Place Order"
 
Instructions for Online SAFE ENVIRONMENT Training:

• Only one volunteer may take the Quiz at a time. Two volunteers taking one quiz is not allowed.
• Use a desktop or laptop computer (PC or MAC). Do not use tablets or mobile devices. 
• Use the latest version of Internet Explorer. (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari do not support Flash & Java.)
• Users must have Adobe Flash and Reader installed on their computer. This free software can be found at http://www.adobe.com.
• Users must disable their web browser’s pop-up blocker.
• Users must be using a computer connected to a printer to print SAFE ENVIRONMENT Certificate and Quiz Results. If there is no access to a printer, users may either save the files as a .pdf, take a Screen Shot, or take a photo of said documents and send them to the School via e-mail. Volunteers may also complete CaSE training at St. Lawrence School.
• Recommendations:
  • Complete training in 1 hour- volunteers cannot stop halfway and save progress. If the volunteer must stop and experiences technical issues upon return, clear all History, cookies, and cache in the browser and start again.
  • Enter the name of the parish/community in its entirety along with the location.

When the volunteer successfully completes SAFE ENVIRONMENT Training, they must print their Completion Certificate.
